For Shauna La, existence is about creation, exploration and especially attuning herself to energies and frequencies that are not immediately obvious. La’s process involves observing physical characteristics such as colors, sensations, tastes and smells as well as unconventional occurrences found in meditation and lucid dreams. Tapping into these realms, she uses industrial materials and paint pigment to create lush, highly textured monochromatic works that range from calm and serene to electrifying and energetic.
La was raised in Columbia, MS where in high school she was a competitive computer programmer, finishing at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. After graduating, she moved to Baton Rouge where she worked as a WebCT/Publications editor for Louisiana State University for a summer before moving to Chicago and attending Columbia College. She left for New Orleans and began her RF career during which she traveled the country as an RF engineer, optimizing major mobile networks for a number of years while steadily developing her art practice. Leaving her past behind, she moved to California, studied with Academy of Art University, and is currently living in Los Angeles, dedicated full time to her creation of art.
